What skin color did Bill Clinton's secretaries of state have? Answer: white. What skin color did Bill Clinton's attorney general have? Answer: white.
President Bush's first secretary of state was a black man. His second secretary of state is a black woman. His current attorney general is Hispanic.
Do you think that Democrats would sit back for one second and watch a black, female secretary of state and a Hispanic attorney general get politically attacked if the two of them were Democrats? Answer: NO WAY! If Alberto Gonzales was a Democrat he would never be getting treated the way he is. First of all, Republicans in Washington, D.C. have proven they are wimps so we know they wouldn't be attacking anyone. Second, if any Republican WAS attacking a high-ranking, minority Democratic presidential appointee the Democrats would be crying racing, sexism, or whatever label would fit. That fact cannot be denied.
One of the reasons I can't stand Democrats is because they're so good at playing politics and it's irritating. They know that if they get any of Gonzales' staff up to Capitol Hill to testify then they have the opportunity to catch that person in some type of lie. It doesn't matter that Karl Rove, Gonzales, or any staffer didn't break any laws in the firing of U.S. attorneys recently. It matters that Democrats use their subpoena power to get as many Republicans as possible to testify "under oath" because then they can nail them. Call it "getting the Scooter Libby treatment", if you will.
Even better for the Democrats would be to get any of those people before a U.S. attorney and a grand jury. Once that happens it doesn't matter what the original situation was. Forget that no one broke any laws. It's a prime opportunity to bring charges against a political enemy, or someone associated with them, and let the press run with it.
That's how the game works, folks. Too many Americans are busy with American Idol, The Bachelor, and Dancing with the Stars to notice.
